Bisjkek
Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, lies at the foot of the Kyrgyz Range in the Chuy Valley. The Great Chuy Canal crosses the city, and the Ala-Archa and Alamedin rivers flow through it. It is the country's main economic centre, with well-developed machine and textile industries. Bishkek is also a cultural and academic centre, with eight universities. It is worth visiting in summer, when temperatures are pleasant and perfect for discovering its attractions. Bishkek is home to many football clubs, which also makes it a destination for sports fans.
