Teheran
Tehran, the capital of Iran, lies at the foot of the Alborz Mountains and stretches across altitudes of 1100-1800 m above sea level. It is the largest city in the Middle East, home to 12.2 million people. The city is an industrial and cultural centre, with numerous museums, palaces and art venues. Valiasr, the longest street in the region, is lined with important squares. The climate is continental, with hot summers and freezing winters. The best months to visit are in spring and autumn, when the weather is milder.
