Thessaloníki
Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece, lies on the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea. It is an important administrative centre for the Central Macedonia region, with a population of around 315 thousand and roughly 790 thousand across the wider metropolitan area. Thessaloniki is a scientific and academic centre, known for its many congresses and exhibitions. The city has a rich multicultural history and today draws visitors with landmarks such as the White Tower and the Rotunda. The best time to visit is spring and autumn, when temperatures are moderate.
