Wrocław, set on the Silesian Lowland on the Oder, is the historic capital of Lower Silesia and one of Poland's largest cities, with around 672 thousand inhabitants. Known for its rich history, it is the seat of the Lower Silesian regional authorities. Wrocław delights visitors with its beautiful bridges and its historic market square lined with colourful townhouses. Ostrów Tumski, with the Cathedral of St John the Baptist, is well worth a visit. The temperate climate makes spring and summer the best time to come, when temperatures are pleasantly warm.
